Admiral – Historical drama about love (2008)

“Admiral” is a Russian historical and multi-part motion picture film directed by Andrei Kravchuk. The movie tells a story of the life of a combat officer of the Navy, subsequently Admiral and leader of the White Movement Alexander Vasilievich Kolchak.

The premiere took place on October 9, 2008.

The plot

The events of the movie take place in the period 1915-1920, on the background of the First World War, the collapse of the Russian Empire, and two revolutions (February and October), as well as the Civil War.

The history of recent years of Admiral Kolchak is shown both in his personal life and in his service to the state. Until the end of his days the Admiral remained faithful to his homeland, his late love and his views.

The film was based on the real facts of the biography of Alexander Kolchak. He was a naval commander, a member of the Russian Geographical Society, spent many years on expeditions to the Arctic (an island in the Kara Sea in named after him), participated in military clashes in the Baltic, served as commander in chief of the Black Sea Fleet and the leader of the white movement. In 1918, Alexander Kolchak was proclaimed the Supreme Ruler of Russia, he controlled a vast territory – the Urals, Siberia, the Far East.

The movie depicts the love story between him and his late love and civil wife Anna Vasilievna Timireva. During the admiral’s arrest by Bolsheviks, she went to the Socialist-Revolutionaries herself and said: “Arrest me too. I cannot live without him”.
